1995 – present.: Principal / Shehayeb C O N S U L T (Private Firm) in the field of research-based design and planning, and community-based urban development.

2009 – present.: Part-time advisor to the Minister of Social Solidarity.                

2008 – present.: Professor/Researcher at the Housing and Building National Research Center (HBRC).

2000 – present.: Part-time faculty member at the Department of Architectural Engineering at the  University of Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA) – Cairo, Egypt.

2010 – 2010: Reviwer to UN-HABITAT reports:

-    Cities and Citizens Series N0: 2: Cairo – a City in Urgent Transition.

-    Safer Cities Programme concept paper and Manual draft.

2009 – present: Member of the Working Group on Crime Prevention as part of the Global Consortium on Security Transformation (GCST).

2008 – 2009: Part-time faculty member at the Department of Construction and Architectural Engineering at the American University in Cairo    (AUC) – Cairo, Egypt.               

2007 – 2009: Member of the International Advisory Board for the UN-HABITAT State of the World Cities Reports

2004 – 2009: Member of the Advisory Board of the UN-HABITAT Global Research Network on Human Settlements –  HS-Net including advising on the following reports:

-   Global Report 2009 : Revisiting Urban Planning

2002 – 2008: Associate Professor/Researcher at the Housing and Building National Research Center (HBRC).
